11 Things Every Cleaning Company Website Must Have
By Opora editorial team · 7 min read
Most cleaning company websites commit the same category of sins: stock photos of smiling people in gloves (who obviously don't work for the company), a generic "we take pride in our work" headline, a phone number buried in the footer, and no pricing signal anywhere on the page. Then the owner wonders why the traffic doesn't convert.
A cleaning company website has one job: convert a search into a quote request or a phone call. Every element on the site either supports that conversion or interferes with it. Here are the 11 elements that separate the sites that convert from those that don't.
1. Mobile-First Design and Sub-3-Second Load Time
Over 70% of local service searches happen on mobile devices (Google Core Web Vitals 2024). A site that renders poorly on a 6-inch screen or loads in 6 seconds is invisible to most of your potential clients.
Minimum standards:
- Core Web Vitals: LCP (Largest Contentful Paint) < 2.5 seconds
- No horizontal scrolling on mobile
- Click-to-call phone number accessible within the first screen
- Images compressed and served in WebP format
Test your site at PageSpeed Insights. A score below 70 on mobile is a conversion problem.
2. A Specific, Outcome-Oriented Headline
"Welcome to Sparkle Clean Pro" tells visitors nothing. They arrived from a search about cleaning services; they know they're on a cleaning company website.
What the headline must do: Confirm service type + geography + primary benefit.
Weak: "Professional Cleaning Services" Strong: "Commercial Cleaning in Greater Atlanta: Insured, Bonded, Responding in 24 Hours"
The specificity creates immediate relevance for the right visitor and filters out the wrong ones, which is exactly what you want.
3. A Prominent, Frictionless CTA Above the Fold
Your primary call to action must be visible without scrolling on every device. The two highest-converting CTAs for cleaning companies:
- "Get a Free Quote": captures intent; low commitment
- "Call Now: [number]": direct path for ready buyers
Click-to-call buttons on mobile should be sized at minimum 44×44 pixels (Apple's HIG and Google's Material Design standard) so they're thumb-tappable. A phone number in 11pt font is not a CTA; it's decoration.
4. Real Photography of Your Team and Work
Stock photos of cleaning are immediately recognizable as stock. They communicate "we couldn't afford to hire a photographer", which is a trust signal in the wrong direction.
Real photos of your actual crews, your vehicles, and your work (before/after pairs are particularly effective) build the specific trust that closing a cleaning contract requires. A client is giving you keys to their building. Generic imagery doesn't earn that.
Minimum photo assets every cleaning website needs:
- 3–5 crew/team photos in branded uniforms
- 3–5 job site before/after pairs
- At least 1 photo of your service vehicles
- Owner headshot for the "About" page
A decent smartphone camera and a few hours of coordination produce website-quality photos. This is a one-time investment with long-term conversion impact.
5. A Trust Signal Block
The trust signal block (typically positioned directly below the hero section or alongside the CTA) compresses the proof elements that answer "why should I trust this company?"
| Trust Signal | Conversion Impact | How to Display |
|---|---|---|
| Google star rating + review count | High | Badge with rating + "Based on X Google reviews" |
| Years in business | Medium | "Serving [City] since [year]" |
| Insured and bonded | High | Badge or icon with "Fully Insured & Bonded" |
| Background-checked employees | High | Icon + brief description |
| Satisfaction guarantee | High | "100% satisfaction or we reclean: no charge" |
| ISSA membership or certification | Medium | Logo badge |
| Number of clients served | Medium | "1,200+ happy clients in [metro]" |
| Response time guarantee | Medium | "Same-day response to all inquiries" |
6. Service Pages: One Per Service Type
A single "Services" page that lists all your offerings in bullet points is a missed SEO opportunity. Each service type deserves its own page:
/residential-house-cleaning/commercial-office-cleaning/move-in-move-out-cleaning/post-construction-cleaning/deep-cleaning-services
Each page should: describe the service, explain your process, address FAQs specific to that service type, and include a localized title tag and H1. This structure allows you to rank for service-specific queries and gives clients the detailed information they need to self-select.
7. Location Pages for Every City Served
If you serve multiple cities or neighborhoods, a location page for each one is the highest-ROI local SEO investment available. Each page should include:
- City-specific H1 (e.g., "House Cleaning in Pasadena, CA")
- Unique content describing service in that area (not a template with the city name swapped)
- Embedded Google Map showing your service area
- Local phone number if you have one
- Reviews from clients in that city (or proximity)
Do not create thin, duplicate location pages; they create more harm than good. 400+ words of genuinely useful, unique content per city page is the floor.
8. Pricing Transparency (Even If Just Ranges)
Pricing is the single most searched-for piece of information for cleaning service prospects. A site that offers no pricing signal at all creates friction that sends visitors to a competitor who gives them something to work with.
You don't need to publish exact prices. Publishing a range or starting price signals:
- You serve the visitor's budget (or they self-qualify out)
- You're a confident, established operation
- You're not hiding something
"Starting at $149 for standard home cleaning" or "Commercial cleaning from $0.08/sq ft" gives the visitor a frame and dramatically increases quote request quality (fewer low-budget tire-kickers).
9. Online Booking or Instant Quote
Friction kills conversions. Every step between "I want to hire a cleaner" and "I've booked a cleaner" is a dropout opportunity. Online booking or an instant quote form eliminates the friction of phone tag.
Options:
- Full online booking: Calendly, Acuity, or scheduling software with client-facing booking (Jobber, Housecall Pro)
- Instant quote form: Collects square footage, service type, frequency → returns price range immediately
- Quote request form: Minimum: name, email, phone, service type, address, preferred date
At minimum, a quote request form with email follow-up within 2 hours will convert better than a "call us" button alone. According to HubSpot Sales Benchmarks 2025, leads contacted within 5 minutes are 100× more likely to convert than those contacted after 30 minutes.
10. Reviews Prominently Displayed
Your Google reviews should be embedded on your website, not just linked from a badge. An embedded review widget or a curated testimonial section with real client names (with permission), city, and service type converts better than a "4.8 stars on Google" badge alone.
The most effective placement: directly above the fold-break on service pages, so visitors see social proof before deciding to scroll. A grid of 4–6 reviews with star ratings, client names, and specific service details is more credible than a rotating testimonial slider with generic quotes.
11. LocalBusiness Schema Markup
Schema markup is structured data code that tells search engines exactly what your business is, where it operates, and how to reach it. For a cleaning company, correct schema markup can improve click-through rates from organic results by enabling rich snippets.
Minimum LocalBusiness schema for cleaning companies:
- Business name, address, phone number
- Service area (GeoCircle or list of cities)
- Opening hours
- Price range
- Aggregate rating (connected to your reviews)
- Service types offered
Most website platforms (WordPress + Yoast/RankMath, Squarespace, Wix) support schema configuration without custom coding. If you're on Shopify, a liquid template injection or a third-party app handles it.
Before you publish pricing ranges on your site, make sure your rates cover your true costs. Use Opora's Bill Rate Calculator to calculate your minimum billable rate based on labor burden, overhead, and target margin, so the pricing you publish is profitable, not just competitive.
Key Takeaways
- Mobile load speed under 3 seconds is not optional: more than half of visitors abandon slower sites before forming an opinion of your business.
- Real photography of your actual team and work outperforms stock photos on every conversion metric.
- Separate service pages and location pages are the two highest-ROI investments for cleaning company website SEO.
- Pricing transparency (even ranges) reduces friction and improves quote request quality.
- Online booking or instant quote forms consistently produce the highest conversion lift of any website element.
